WHAT IS AN OCULOPLASTIC SURGEON?
Because of the complexity and importance of the eyes, treating the surrounding areas should be reserved for only surgeons with the highest level of expertise. An oculoplastic, or oculofacial plastic surgeon is a board-certified ophthalmologist who has completed additional fellowship training that focuses exclusively on the eyelids, eyebrows, orbits, mid-face and tear ducts. Dr. Neimkin is a board-certified surgeon.
There are only a few hundred surgeons worldwide who are trained and accredited by the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons (ASOPRS), the governing body of the field.
DOES DR. NEIMKIN ACCEPT INSURANCE?
Yes, for functional and reconstructive procedures. We accept most major insurance carriers. Cosmetic surgery and cosmetic treatments are not covered by insurance. We will work with you to file insurance.
WHERE CAN I HAVE SURGERY?
WHEN CAN I RETURN TO WORK AFTER SURGERY?
Generally less than 1 week, but this depends on the specific procedure and your type of work. This will be discussed during your consultation and can be accommodated when scheduling surgery.
HOW MUCH DOES COSMETIC SURGERY COST?
A detailed all-inclusive quote will be provided during consultation. For appropriate cases, we offer office-based surgery to save operating room and anesthesia fees. We do not charge for a consultation.
AM I SUITABLE FOR SURGERY?
Each patient is unique and this is a collaborative decision between the patient and Dr. Neimkin. This can only be made after in-person consultation and review of medical history. For our out of town guests, we offer virtual consultation but finalization of treatment is made in-person the day of or day before surgery.
CAN I UNDERGO MULTIPLE PROCEDURES AT ONCE?
Yes. Dr. Neimkin believes in combining procedures as appropriate to minimize recovery time, patient costs, and trips to the doctor.
CAN I DRIVE AFTER THE SURGERY?
Not within 24 hours of receiving anesthesia. Most patients are comfortable driving 2-3 days after surgery. Patients having in-office minor procedures can drive after the appointment. If this is a concern, please ask during the consultation.
HOW LONG UNTIL THE BRUISING GOES AWAY?
It depends on genetics, health history, medications, and a little bit of luck but generally 1-2 weeks. We do not sell or recommend purchasing over-the-counter medications to prevent bruising.
DOES DR. NEIMKIN PERFORM LOWER FACELIFTS AND NECK LIFTS?
No, he specializes exclusively in the eyelids, eyebrows, forehead, orbits, tear duct, and midface. We routinely work with other plastic and facial plastic surgeons to ensure the best results if a face or neck lift is indicated.
DOES DR. NEIMKIN PERSONALLY PERFORM ALL PROCEDURES?
Yes. Dr. Neimkin performs every treatment including all surgery, Botox® treatments, dermal fillers, laser skin resurfacing, and chemical peels. To respect the confidentiality of our patients who choose a private practice, we do not permit observers or physicians in training.
WILL MY PICTURE BE POSTED ONLINE?
To respect the confidentiality of our patients we only post selective photos online with written consent. Before and after pictures of the procedures we perform are available in office during the consultation.
Each patient is unique; therefore, results may vary.
